8 Random Facts

1. The day that Jellico tagged me, i walked my 'millionth' step on my pedometer. walking May 5th til August 9th: 96 days. The website i keep track of this is :  http://10000steps.au.org

2.  My name is Shirley, i go by Shirl. My older cousins and my brother call me by my childhood name: shirley ann.  I was named after dad's cousin. We were 'big shirley and little shirley'. I hated having 2 names as a kid...so naturally i named my daughter: Mary Ellen.  Big Shirley had 1 son in the navy and one grandson became a SEAL.

3. After my daughter was born, i had severe Rheumatoid arthristis so bad i couldn't even hold her or tie my shoes.  My doctor followed the Univ of Sanford protocol: hit it hard, hit it early.  Tnx to her early agressive treatment, I've been in remission ever since my daughter turned 4. She's now 17.

4. My husband is bipolar. I call him my bipolar bear.  Any person married to me would go crazy.

5. Both my kids were conceived on the 4th of July. Born 3 years, 3 days part. My son's gf has her birthday one day after his. I told him, oh....a 4th of July conception, he said "more than i needed to know, Mom"

6. I grew up on a farm in Nebraska and have been known to play the role of 'good ol gal' to put people at ease.

7.  I ran off w/a polka band member when i was living in a small town in Nebraska and we drove all the way to San Diego and saw the grand canyon, painted desert, disneyland, las vegas, tijuana...and told everyone we went to see his mom in Iowa.

8.  I once lived in New Jersey and had a job in lower Manhattan.  I walked past this mask store each day and a man wearing a black hat would tip his hat to me as I walked by.

i'm not sorry i grew up in Nebraska. it makes us exotic...think of old tvshows like welcomeback Kotter that had the wife from Nebraska. Grew up in Rushville, in the panhandle. and i remember the 2nd 'wounded knee' incident

nebraska has a panhandle? Who knew...
I have a good friend with the last name of Shirley. And guess what - his mom's first name is shirley. She's Shirley Shirley. I kid you not.

when I read Polka Band member I thought (to much info) then I looked up how to spell " Lederhosen"
that took me to " Lederhosenmuseum". I now have an image of a wolf in lederhosen in my head.

Great list! The best one is # 7 (in my opinion) about your husband not knowing about your secret escapade with the polka band player and the trip...LOL

These 8 Fact threads make great reading, don't they?

ah, the panhandle is the most unfamiliar part of Nebraska for me, I'd love to go back that way and photograph the bluffs though.
